Tasmanian Tax Agent Issues – ATO Consultation

In March 2008, the Tasmanian Divisional Council of Taxpayers Australia Inc organised meetings between representatives of the Office of the Inspector-General of Taxation (IGT) and a number of Tasmanian tax agents to discuss agent’s concerns relating to Tax Office administration practices. Following these meetings, IGT prepared a summary of the 32 separate concerns raised and submitted the summary to the Tax Office. In March 2009, the Tax Office provided its fourth and final instalment response which included its view on these concerns, together with an outline of any relevant changes that have, or are proposed to, address the issues. In May 2009, Taxpayers Australia Inc provided IGT with its feedback on the Tax Office response.
